Looking for parents of John S. Schmidt. (In later life, he changed his name to Smith.) He was born Jan. 24, 1866 in St. Louis, MO, and moved to Washington State. His brother Jacob proceeded him to Washington and also changed his name to Smith. Two other brothers (Fred and Michael) did not move to Washington, and reportedly kept the Schmidt name. Any information on this family would be appreciated.
