I'm not sure if we are in the same branch of the family, but I am descended from Melchoir Ruch of Northern Alsace. His grandson, Michael Ruch, arrived in Philadelphia on August 17, 1733 and settled in the Northhampton/Bucks area of Pennsylvania. Sometime after that, the spelling was changed from "Ruch" to "Rugh," which is the present-day spelling of my name.
