My GGGF was Jesse Taylor Reid, caucasian, who came to Gonzales County, TX, around 1865-68 from AL/MS/TN or somewhere similar. He was in a Tennessee regiment during the Civil War (where he lost an arm). We have looked for his southeastern roots but not found them. I can provide nearly all the Texas descendants. He must have been 30-50 when he came to Texas. At least one of his children, Charles Lafayette Reid, spent some time in OK (during a move from the Gonzales, TX area to the Lometa, TX area). I think one of his children was a "Jack," who would have been a brother to Jerome, J.T., and others, and roughly the right age Does this match? If so, I can supply some more info.
