Dear Adrian, I was amazed to see posted the Bible of my great-grandmother Rebecca Peckham Weaver. Now I am interested in knowing how it went from Smyrna or Westmoreland, NY where she lived all her life, to Iowa. Rebecca's aunt, Mary C. Peckham did go to Paullina, Iowa around 1880 with her brother David who was married to Nancy Rockwell. Other Rockwells also lived in Iowa. I suspect one of them took the Bible to Iowa. Perhaps it was a gift from Rebecca. I would love to have any information about how it came to you. It sounds as if the Bible has found a safe haven with you. We have all the family information that you posted so have no interest in owning it but it is nice to know that it is with someone who appreciates old books. Mabel Downing |
