Sylvia G. Blose

Sylvia Graham Blose, Harrisonburg, Va., died at Rockingham Memorial Hospital after a brief illness on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001. She was born Nov. 2, 1908, at Harrisonburg to Lt. Col. William G. Myers and Ethel Hanna Myers.

She was a graduate of Harrisonburg High School and Harrisonburg State Teachers College. She taught school in Harrisonburg and Winchester, Va. for five years.

In 1932, she married Lloyd C. Blose, who preceded her in death in 1963. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dr. Donald C. Blose.

She was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church of Harrisonburg. She was a member of the Massanutten Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of Harrisonburg-Rockingham Historical Society, and a former long-time member and volunteer of the Rockingham Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Blose is survived by one son, William G. Blose of Penn Laird; one daughter, Angela Blose Corley of Carmel, Ind. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be private at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a memorial for Mrs. Blose at Sunnyside Retirement Community Chapel 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, where she has been a resident since 1990. The Rev. Paul O’Gorek and Dr. John F. Sloop, officiating.

Friends may call at the Johnson Funeral Service, Bridgewater, anytime or at the home of her son, William G. (Bill) Blose, 3723 Spotswood Trail, Penn Laird, Va.
