A biography of J.T. Blose, Kalispell, MT, is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, page 1034. J.T. was the youngest of seven children of Andrew & Malinda (Forbes) Blose. When George was 13 months old, his father was killed while at work in a coal mine in McKeesport, PA. J.T. made his own living since he was 10 years old.

At age 21, J.T. and several neighbor boys went west to KS, Santa Fe, NM, and Flagstaff, AZ, where they went into the cattle business; later Phoenix & Flagstaff, AZ, remaining in AZ about 4 years. Moved on to San Francisco, CA, and Portland, OR, until 1882 when he came to Montana. During the following years he traveled the country working for a short while in mining and for the railroad. He came to Butte, MT, and filed a pre-emption claim on 160 acres of land in the Flathead Valley, where he engaged in farming and stock raising.

In 1888, J.T. Blose returned to his old neighborhood in PA, where he married Belle C. Irwin, born in Armstrong county, PA, daughter of John and Sarah (Windrem) Irwin. Blose children: Charles O. and Minnie A.
