SPRINGFIELD - Maurice J. "Bud" Carrigan, 85, of Springfield died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at St. John's Hospital. He was born March 19, 1921, in Springfield, the son of Edward and Helen Brennan Carrigan. He married Therese "Terry" Olas in Freyming, France, in 1946; she died in 2001. He married Inez "Jane" Sarti in 2003. Mr. Carrigan was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe from 1942 to 1946. He attained the rank of captain while serving with The Red Ball Express, and earned the American Campaign Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He retired from Prudential Life Insurance Co. after 35 years. He was a volunteer at St. John's Hospital for more than 20 years. Survivors: wife, Jane; four daughters, Mary (husband, Bill) Wheeler, Sonja and Theresa "Tess" (husband, Eric) Fyalka, all of Springfield, and Genny Distasio of St. Louis; two sons, Edward Carrigan of Kenosha, Wis., and John (wife, Theresa) Carrigan of Rochester; brother, John "Jay" (wife, Paula) Carrigan of Indianapolis; and six grandchildren. Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Rev. David J. Hoefler officiating. Interment: Calvary Cemetery. Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
