The William Carpenter born c1839 enumerated in Yalobusha Co. MS in 1850 is said to have married Elizabeth Bray and fathered only one son, and circumstantial evidence supports that. There were at least two other Carpenters in the Yalobusha Co. area who could be Julia Ann Bounds' Carpenter husband, but only if she married after the 1860 census. Both were enumerated with their parents in 1860 but disappeared before the 1870 census as a result of the Civil War.

The marriage record for Samuel C. Parker and Julia Ann (Bounds) Carpenter lists him as S. C. Parker and her as July Ann, 3 Sep 1868, Hot Spring Co. AR, where they were enumerated in 1870. He was age 20, she was 30.
