Edna Patterson's 1987 book states that John Bounds fathered 21 children by 3 wives and lists 17, including a Marion with no additional information, but no Stephen. The second edition (2000) of Ruth Dryden's 1989 book lists 20 children by 3 wives, but one of them is Julia Ann listed again as Indiana (from the 1850 census); she lists a Marion born c1827 in AL enumerated in Calhoun Co. AL in 1860 as a son, but no Stephen. John's marrying three times and having children with each wife created a lot of possibilities for children that would be tempting to people looking for a place to stick an unplaced Bounds. Sorry, I don't have a copy of Laura's death certificate.
