On Oct. 8, 1930,10:00 pm, a baby girl was abandoned at the Wilrik Hotel in Sanford, NC (Lee co.). The person leaving the child gave her name as, Estelle Calvert of Charlotte, NC (Mecklenburg Co.). Age approximately 25-40. She left the baby in a hotel room, faded into the night never to be seen or heard of again. On Oct. 17, 1930, a laundry owner, Sam T. Ingram and his wife, Sue took the baby to live with them in Sanford, NC. It was later determined that the baby's name was, Evelyn Brown(Goodman?) born June 16, 1930 at Hillsborough County Hospital in Grasmere, NH and that her mother was, Evelyn Brown born July 6, 1906 in Montgomery, Alabama. She may have married a Goodman and also had one sister (possible name, Estelle) .At time of birth she resided most likely in Boston, MA. Any ideas at all appreciated.
