Mary, I believe that I'm a direct descendant of Sir George Calvert of Yorkshire, born abt 1579 and married first to Anne Mynne, born 20 nov 1579 in England and died 8 Aug 1621. George died 15 Apr 1632 in London.
I had a friend do a ancestry search for me and there are many matches.
My dad used to tell me that our family was from Spartenburg, SC and we were descended from the Lord Baltimore of Md but nothing was ever found in writing at that time to substantiate anything.
My Father was James Walker Calvert, my Grandfather was Benjamin Clark Calvert, his father was Elias J. Calvert, his was Basil Calvert, then to Raleigh Calvert, William Calvert, then to George Calvert md to Constance Barton, then to George Calvert, md to Elizabeth Doyne, then to William Calvert who drowned while trying to ford the Wicomico River in Md and was md to Elizabeth Stone. From there was Leonard Calvert, md to Anne Brent of London and then to George Calvert (1st Lord Baltimore), md to Anne Mynne, and then to Leonard Calvert, md to Grace Crossland and then to John Calvert, md to Dorothy Leonard. I have most of the dates of death and birth and dates of marriage that my friend did for me but nothing has been documented so I have no evidence, so to speak. My name is James Franklin Calvert, b 21 Sep 1943, so I will be 65 yrs of age this yr.
I would like to have any information on the family prior to the 1520's in England.
