I am an historic preservationist who is seeking to locate descendants of Dr. Benjamin Rush, signer of the Declaration of Independence, Rev. War veteran, founder of Dickinson College, early abolitionist, member of the Pennsylvania convention to ratify the U.S. Constitution, and 'father' of American psychiatry. I am hoping to raise an interested community which might be willing to speak in favor of preserving and adaptively reusing the last remaining residence of Dr. Benjamin Rush in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Julia Stockton Rush, granddaughter of Dr. Benjamin Rush, married a man named John Calvert. The following is the information that I have on Julia Stockton Rush and John Calvert, her husband. JULIA STOCKTON(8) RUSH [RICHARD D.(7), BENJAMIN (6), JOHN(5), JAMES(4), WILLIAM(3), JOHN "OLD TROOPER"(2), UNKMALE(1)] was born 21 Jul 1826 in Washington, DC, and died 20 Jan 1858. She married JOHN CALVERT 01 Jun 1854 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of EDWARD CALVERT and ELIZABETH BISCOE. He was born 08 Jan 1809 in Mt. Airy, MD, and died 09 Mar 1869 in Prince George's County, Maryland.
