I am a descendant of Conrad and his son John George. You bring out many valid points that I don't have an answer to. One point I would make is that is isn't outside the realm of possibility that Conrad aged 58 served. After all he wasn't in a Line Regiment but Militia and I have seen records of many older men serving. Maybe he died of a heart attack due to exertion ;>
