There are at least two (Georg) Conrad Blose or Bloss
c-mid 1700's Both came from Germany to Philadelphia and names appear in the Rupp boat lists at city hall in Philadelphia

One always lived in PA Northhampton I think He died in the Rev War

The OTHER one lived briefly in Montgomery Cnty (New Hannover) moved on from PA to near Elkton VA about 1750-1760 (we are unsure exact date)

He DID NOT serve in the Rev War in fact died in 1774 at the homestead near Elkton VA.

Blose is a alternate spelling used by some because the name Bloss in German sounds like gross or close (near) easy for the English to write down the other spelling. All the families have used both spelling at different times.

The family remaining in the Shenanodah Valley (around Elkton) use Blose. Others from the same family who moved on to Ohio or WV use Bloss.

As far as we can tell the various Bloss/Blose families are unrelated back in Germany. They came from different places in Germany, the NE the middle and the SW. Poor serfs are very unlikely to travel around --- they were all owned by masters of the City States Germany did not become unified until 1800's.

Hope I have helped If you are interested in the GC who went to VA lt me know.

Dick Bloss
