I found a source: Cape Cod Library of Local History and Genealogy: A Gacsimile Edition of 108 Pamphlets Published in the Early 20th Centruy, compiled by Leonard Smith, 1992

It documents English immigrant Christopher Batt (b. 1601 England) who came to America in 1638. In speaking of Christopher Batt's (b. 1601) grandsons it says: "Either Timothy Batt [b. 1672 to Timothy Batt, son of Christopher Batt b. 1601] or his cousin Paul Batt [b. 1675 to Paul Batt, son of Christopher Batt b. 1601] was probably the father of William Batt who married Mehitable Warren, both being of Watertown, on Feb. 26, 1734/5. They had three children recorded: 1.Mehitable, b. in Waltham Dec. 10, 1738. 2. Beulah, b. in sudbury in 1739, m. in Waltham Nov. 28, 1759, William Cox. 3. William, b. in Framingham May 28, 1743; d. at Waltham, recorded at Weston, Dec. 22 1762, aged 19.5 years. The widow Mehitalbe Batt married David Allen in Weston on Dec. 20, 1748."

So ... my William Batt is probably either the son of Timothy Batt or Paul Batt. Does anyone know any more about this family, please?

Hopefully - Janice - jlchipman@aol.com
