Jeremiah Batt (1850-1909) was my husband's great grandfather. His father was Jeremiah 1817 Witham Friary, who married in Aberystwth, Abergavenny registration district, Monmouthshire, S Wales in 1837. By 1841 he was in Staffordshire but there is a transcription error as the entry is patchy and is listed as Jeremiah Butt. His parents in law John and Sophiah Vipond are listed immediately above.5 years is a long time to wait(!) and you may already have this information, but if not, I could email you the marriage certificate - I have only just started on my husband's ancestry as he knows very little about his father's side of the family. Jeremiah (1817) seems to appear twice in the 1871 census, once in Aston and also in Bristol as a visitor, I wonder if he had a brother William and a sister Jane.
Best Wishes
Irene Lee
