Hello Carole,
I have applied for the full death certificate of Thomas Batt. I only have the records at the moment. In the meantime I have found by searching the shipping records of Australian Immigrants, that a Thomas Batt arrived from England as an unassisted migrant, on the British ship “The Kent”. He arrived in Australia aged 23 in January 1857.
This makes him born in 1834. There is only one death recorded of a Thomas Batt who was born in 1834, and that of course is my Thomas. So they must be the same person. Incidentally, Thomas had a daughter in Australia who was named Susannah. I will contact you when I have the full certificate. Regards Gerald
